The Inaugural Australian Motoring Festival was held from Thursday 26th March to Sunday 29th at the Melbourne Showgrounds. The event was a mixture of indoor and outdoor exhibitions, featuring historical cars from the late 1800’s all the way up to today’s modern cars.
Mercedes Benz had it’s driving academy along for the day, including the A45 AMG hot hatch for participants to experience the cars and you could sit in many brand new cars to get a feel for them and also book test drives.
I had previously been to the car shows at The Melbourne Exhibition Centre and felt that the Showgrounds was a much better venue to have displays and outdoor test tracks.
The event felt it has had the life breathed into it, since the previously indoor show in the much smaller venue felt cramped and like being in a car showroom. At the motoring festival it feels like you are able to interact with the cars.
The Ferrari exhibition was definitely one of the highlights with classic era up to the modern La Ferrari on display.
